Training Structure

The training takes place over four months with bi-weekly calls.  This structure allows trainees to learn at a steady pace, balance their work commitments, and put their new skills into practice.

8.5 hours

  • Eight calls with 8-12 trainees
  • Sessions occur every two weeks for four months
  • Each call lasts 1-hour, except for the final call, which is 90 minutes
  • Seven unique topics geared toward the role of the BHCM

The AIMS Center recommends trainees complete our online Behavioral Health Care Manager Training before starting the Advanced Skills Training series. Though not required, this online training will provide trainees with a solid foundation to build from.

Trainee Requirements

An active caseload of at least three patients by the time of the training (except for those in supervisory roles).

A working camera. Participants must have their video on for the entire training.

Trainees do not have to be a licensed clinician to participate.

Continuing Education

The University of Washington AIMS Center is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education (CE) for psychologists. The AIMS Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content. APA CE credits can be used by most licensed mental health providers, including psychologists, clinical social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists. Clinicians should check their specific state requirements to confirm that credits awarded by the APA apply to them.

Trainees are eligible for up to 8.5 CE credits. To receive credits trainees must attend the entire session.
