Advancing Integrated Mental Health Solutions (AIMS)
The AIMS Center at the University of Washington is a group of faculty, staff and consultants dedicated to improving the health of populations by advancing the research and implementation of Collaborative Care (CoCM). Collaborative Care is a specific model of integrated care developed at the University of Washington to treat common and persistent mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. The AIMS Center was founded by Jürgen Unützer, an internationally recognized psychiatrist and health services researcher who has spent the past twenty years developing innovative integrated care models and translating research on evidence-based behavioral health interventions into effective clinical and public health practice. Our Center is housed within the Division of Population Health, an interdisciplinary group of clinicians and scientists working on creating effective, integrated behavioral health care solutions.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has nearly 1,000 full-time faculty, clinical faculty, and professional staff engaged in a wide variety of clinical, research, and training programs. We work to bring the best mental health care to those in need today while discovering the treatments that will help improve the lives of patients tomorrow. The Department is widely regarded as the epicenter of integrated care research.
The UW School of Medicine is a perfect environment for the growth of integrated care research, consultation, implementation and workforce development. The School is dedicated to improving the general health and well-being of the public and serves as a regional resource for Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho − the WWAMI states. Committed to building and sustaining a diverse academic community of faculty, staff, fellows, residents, and students, the UW School of Medicine assures that access to education and training is open to learners from all segments of society, acknowledging a particular responsibility to the diverse populations within our region.
For more than 100 years, the University of Washington has secured a reputation as a leader in education and research. The AIMS Center is proud to be part of the University and to represent the University to the mental health practice community.
