Wayne Katon, MD (1950-2015)
Wayne Katon, MD, passed away March 1, 2015 from lymphoma. Dr. Katon's original 1995 JAMA publication paved the way for the collaborative care model that is widely implemented in clinics today. The effectiveness of the model has since been tested in over 80 randomized controlled trials and has helped countless people receive better care. He was a gifted clinician, teacher, and researcher for over three decades, shaping the fields of psychiatry and integrated care. He was a valued colleague and friend and will be greatly missed.
