Telemedicine-Based Collaborative Care for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Printer-friendly version

This study used a telemedicine-based Collaborative Care model to treat Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in military veterans living in rural areas. The model, Telemedicine Outreach for PTSD (TOP), included an off-site PTSD care team, care manager, and psychiatric consultant who all used telemedicine tools (video, telephone, and shared electronic medical records) to collaborate on treatments. It was found that the TOP intervention improved PTSD symptoms.
