Effectiveness of Telehealth Service Delivery Model for Treating ADHD: A Community-Based Randomized Controlled Trial

The Children's ADHD Telemental Health Treatment Study [1] (CATTS) was a randomized controlled trial that used the experimental telehealth service model to examine the effect on ADHD symptoms. 223 children, referred by 88 primary care providers (PCPs) in 7 communities were randomized to either telehealth services or control treatment with PCPs. The telehealth service included 6 sessions over 22 weeks of combined pharmacotherapy, delivered by child psychiatrists. Results indicated that the telehealth arm improved signficantly more than the control arm. The AIMS Center developed a customized software (CMTS) to support the study.
